My kids LOVE dinosaurs.

The Land Before Time and the dinosaur part in Fantasia will always remind me of Peter. Dinosaurs in general remind me of Peter. Maybe that's one reason it's been fun to see my own kids fall in love with dinosaurs. We had an excellent time at the dinosaur museum at Thanksgiving Point during our recent trip to Utah. Jane's favorite: pteranodon. Grey's favorite: the giant shark, probably. In fact, Grey also loves sharks, which also make me think of Peter. I feel bad I didn't know Peter as well beyond that--that I didn't talk to him about his love of Japanese culture, or diving, or just to find out more about what he was interested in. I am grateful though, that I have these little memories of Peter and that I can think of him when I'm sharing fun times with my kids.

Remember Peter 2010

Today was the Japanese Festival in SLC, and once again, it was set for our family as a memorial event for Peter (thank you, Suzanne, for keeping us all in the loop). If you were able to go today and would like to share about your experience, you may do so here.

Remember Peter, April 29

This Wednesday is Peter's birthday. He would have been twenty. So, it seems fitting to make this the year that we start doing something as a family, all together, to remember Peter. We want to collect ideas over the next while and set something more concrete for the future. In the meantime, for this year, we thought of an activity everyone can participate in no matter where or what they are doing.
This year to remember Peter, we can write him a letter. It may be short or long, you may write whatever you want. When you finish, you can do whatever you want with it--keep it somewhere safe, burn it, send it away on a balloon, etc. Just do what makes you feel peace.
You can keep your letter private, or share it in the comments here if you like. Whatever you do with your letter, we can use the comment section here to talk about participating.
Love you all!

Remember Peter--Any Ideas?

Do you have ideas for how we can memorialize Peter in the future? We would like to find an activity all of us can do, wherever we are. People could gather, if they're close, and the rest of us can share the closeness by participating in the same activity.
Ideas we've tossed around so far: doing something to celebrate what Peter loved in this life. He loved dinosaurs and sharks as a kid; more recently he loved Japanese culture. The main point is for the activity to be fun and bring us together. We love you Peter.
